Weekly Update


Social Sunday 2-3-4 Stableford 

A reminder to all Members that the Club’s next Social Sunday event will be held on Sunday 17 February 2019 and is a 2-3-4 stableford.

This event will be followed by the Sunday Roast and Carvery as well as the Weekly Members’ Draw.

The Jabiru Restaurant – Live Entertainment

On 22 February, Friday Night Dining in The Jabiru Restaurant will be enhanced with live entertainment. Club Member Peter Cohen will set the tone with his guitar, singing a variety of smooth tunes and well-known favourites. His repertoire ranges from ballads to country, blues and rock, and Peter will be sure to delight and provide a special touch on the evening.

First Aid Training at the Club

The Club is holding a First Aid Course that is open to Members for $99 per person. The course will provide participants with the skills and knowledge to administer first aid, basic life support in an emergency and CPR.  The duration of the course is 8 hours on the day and also requires a pre-course reading and e-learning component which will take up to 8 hours.  While there are no prerequisites required to attend the course, those attending will be required to demonstrate their physical ability to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on a manikin to meet the performance criteria for assessment.

If the training is successfully completed, attendees will receive a Statement of Attainment in HLTAID003 – Provide first aid.  This is valid for 36 months from date of completion.

2019 Sanctuary Cove Easter Tournament

Entries are now open for the 2019 Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club Easter Tournament.

The Easter Tournament is a highlight on the Club’s golfing and social calendar and will run from Thursday 18 April until Monday 22 April 2019.

Voluntary Forfeiture

A number of Members have enquired whether it is the intention of the Board to amend the Voluntary Forfeiture Policy following the successful judgement in the appeal at the Queensland Civil and Administration Tribunal. It should be noted that the Board has no intention to amend the current Voluntary Forfeiture and or its associated policies in the Constitution. Please click here to view the judgement.

Amendments to the Club Constitution

At the January 2019 Holdings Board meeting, amendments to the Club Constitution were approved.

In particular, clause 7.2 Nomination, election and appointment process of EM Directors, including clause 7.2(u) Finance Director, was amended. To view the Club Constitution, click here.

Emergency Procedure

  • In case of a medical emergency on the golf course, please call 000 immediately.
  • After calling the Ambulance, please contact the Golf Shop on 07 5699 9050, we will contact Security to assist with medical support.
  • For emergencies in the Clubhouse, please immediately advise any staff member as well as calling 000.
  • If an incident requires first aid only, please call the Golf Shop and the staff will call Security to assist as required.
  • An Automatic Emergency Defibrillator is available at the bottom of the stairs in the Golf Shop, please ask the staff to assist as required 

Locker Belongings – Reminder

Following repairs, maintenance and cleaning of the Men’s and Ladies’ Clubhouse lockers in December, please be advised that those belongings which were cleared from the lockers are still available for collection from lost and found in the golf shop. Should these items not be collected by Friday 1 March 2019, they will be removed and disposed of.

New Menus in Lakeview Bar

Weekly Member’s Draw

The Member drawn in last week’s draw was Mr Bruce Munro. Mr Munro was not present, therefore this week’s draw value will jackpot to $1,200 Club Credit.

This Sunday, there will be another chance to find a winner. In order to claim the Members’ Draw, the winner must be present in Lakeview Bar at the time of the draw. If the winner is not present, the draw will jackpot to $1,300 Club Credit next week with one chance to win.
