2020-2022 Membership Subscriptions

Dear Member,

Re: 2020-2022 Membership Subscriptions

Your Board is currently finalising the 2020 budget and I am pleased to advise there will be no increase to the base rate of Local and Distance single membership subscriptions. This is the second consecutive year in which the base subscription rates have not increased. For the purpose of clarity, the base subscription rates exclude the annual affiliation fee, which is referred to later in this communication. Whilst both the Local and Distance single membership subscriptions remain unchanged, the Family category will undergo slight adjustments as outlined below in order to realign the disparity between the discount offered against the services provided. In addition, eligibility for the Distance category is currently undergoing an audit which will also be addressed further in this communication.

Please click here to view the rate schedule for 2020, and in addition, the following payment methods for subscriptions will remain unchanged and be available for 2020.

  1. Annual in advance, due 1 January 2020 (includes 7% discount)
  2. Bi-annual direct debit, due 1 January 2020 and 1 July 2020 – payments will be processed on the first working day of the applicable month

Subscription invoices for 2020 will be processed based on your current 2019 payment option selection. If you were invoiced annually in advance in 2019, you will continue to be invoiced annually in advance in 2020. Likewise, for Members who selected to pay bi-annually in 2019, you will also continue to be invoiced bi-annually in 2020. If you would like to make a change to your payment option, please contact Member Services at your earliest convenience, in order for any changes to be implemented.

As stated, the Board has, after closer review, and given that the Equity Membership Family category currently enjoys a 38% discount, resolved to change the methodology relating to this discounted fee structure. Over the next three years, commencing in 2020, the discount allocated to the second Member in a Family membership in relation to the first Member’s rate (the base subscription rate in the Local or Distance category) will change per the below structure, thus providing a closer relationship to equal services received by equal memberships.

  • 2020 – Second Member’s rate will equate to 30% off the base subscription rate
  • 2021 – Second Member’s rate will equate to 25% off the base subscription rate
  • 2022 – Second Member’s rate will equate to 20% off the base subscription rate
  • Note: Years’ 2021 and 2022 above suggested rates will be assessed and confirmed by the current Board of the time.

In line with recent communication distributed relating to Local and Distance Equity Membership categories, all Equity Members under the Distance category will temporarily default to that of Local status and will be invoiced accordingly. Members who meet the criteria of the Distance category have been requested to submit the relevant documentation to be eligible to hold Distance status in order to be invoiced accordingly. To verify, Local and Distance status is defined as follows (please refer to the Club By-Laws for details under 5.2 Membership Subscriptions for Equity Members):

  1. Local – Members who live in and maintain their principal place of residence inside a 200-kilometre radius of Sanctuary Cove (Australian Resident other than local) or
  2. Distance – Members who live in and maintain their principal place of residence outside a 200-kilometre radius of Sanctuary Cove for more than 6 months of the calendar year

The Board has agreed that the Club Credit of $1,000 will remain the same for 2020, along with allowing that Credit to be used for dining purposes in Lakeview Bar and The Jabiru Restaurant, at social events and in both The Pines and The Palms golf shops. Please note, as previously, that any unused Club Credit and competition prizes will be forfeited at 31 December 2020, apart from any golf competition winnings earned during December 2020 which will automatically rollover into 2021.

Payment options for charges on your Club Credit account will remain the same for 2020:

  1. Direct debit – The Club will automatically process payment for any charges on your account on the 15th day of the following month, or should the 15th day fall on a weekend, the next business day.
  2. Pre-payment – You may put money on your account to maintain a credit balance at all times.

Please note that Members who have selected to pay bi-annually will receive their Club Credit pro-rata based on Club Credit invoiced on 1 January 2020 and 1 July 2020. Once the Club Credit has been expensed in the 6-month period ($500 Single Membership, $1,000 Family Membership), and if you have not provided direct debit details, you will be required to put money on your Club Credit account to allow for account charging or you may pay cash for purchases.

As outlined above and in recent correspondence, included in the 2020 rates are affiliation fees of $70 payable to Women’s Golf Gold Coast, Gold Coast District Golf Association, Golf Queensland and Golf Australia, which also include player insurance. Affiliation fees are payable by all Members who have access to the golf courses including Equity Member Nominees. The $70 fee reflects a $3 increase in the 2020 fees.

In 2020, for those Members requiring the use of the Club’s golf carts, the pricing structure will not change from that of this year. An annual fee of $750 is available for unlimited cart use or single use is $30.

If you have any questions, or your circumstances have changed and you would like to update your details or arrange an annual cart fee payment, contact Member Services on +61 7 5699 9000 or email info@scgcc.com.au.

Yours sincerely,
