{"id":81842,"date":"2025-01-28T15:37:29","date_gmt":"2025-01-28T05:37:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sanctuarycovegolf.com.au\/cms\/?p=81842"},"modified":"2025-01-28T15:40:59","modified_gmt":"2025-01-28T05:40:59","slug":"rule-of-the-week-when-players-may-or-must-stop-play","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sanctuarycovegolf.com.au\/cms\/2025\/01\/rule-of-the-week-when-players-may-or-must-stop-play\/","title":{"rendered":"Rule of the Week &#8211; When Players May or Must Stop Play"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\"elementToProof\">Rule of the Week &#8211; When Players May or Must Stop Play<\/h3>\n<div class=\"ruleOfGolfContent_content__copy__bZVyQ\">\n<div id=\"10_3\" class=\"ruleOfGolfSubRules_wrapper__QSpN1\">\n<div id=\"10_3c\">\n<div class=\"ruleOfGolfSections_section_text__7eq3s\">\n<div class=\"ruleOfGolfSections_section_text__7eq3s\">\n<div class=\"rulePageRichTextEditor_rich-text-parser__container__F5R2a\">\n<div class=\"ruleOfGolfSections_section_text__7eq3s\">\n<p class=\"rulePageRichTextEditor_rich-text-parser__container__F5R2a\"><span class=\"rich-text-span\">During a&nbsp;<span tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\" aria-label=\"Definition container\">round<\/span>, a player must not stop play&nbsp;except&nbsp;in these cases:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span class=\"text-format-underline\">Suspension by Committee<\/span>:<\/strong> All players must stop play if the <span tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\" aria-label=\"Definition container\">Committee<\/span> suspends play.<\/li>\n<li><strong><span class=\"text-format-underline\">Stopping Play by Agreement in Match Play<\/span>:<\/strong> Players in a match may agree to stop play for any reason, except if doing so delays the competition. If they agree to stop play and then one player wants to resume play, the agreement has ended and the other player must resume play.<\/li>\n<li><strong><span class=\"text-format-underline\">Individual Player Stopping Play Because of Lightning<\/span>:<\/strong> A player may stop play if they reasonably believe there is danger from lightning, but&nbsp;must report to the&nbsp;<span tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\" aria-label=\"Definition container\">Committee<\/span>&nbsp;as soon as possible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"rulePageRichTextEditor_rich-text-parser__container__F5R2a\"><span class=\"rich-text-span\">Leaving the&nbsp;<span tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\" aria-label=\"Definition container\">course<\/span>&nbsp;is not, by itself, stopping play. A player\u2019s delay of play is covered by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.randa.org\/en\/rog\/the-rules-of-golf\/rule-5#5_6a\">Rule 5.6a<\/a>, not by this Rule. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"rulePageRichTextEditor_rich-text-parser__container__F5R2a\"><span class=\"rich-text-span\">If a player stops play for any reason not allowed under this Rule or fails to report to the&nbsp;<span tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\" aria-label=\"Definition container\">Committee<\/span>&nbsp;when required to do so, the player is&nbsp;<span class=\"text-color-red\">disqualified<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.randa.org\/rog\/the-rules-of-golf\/rule-5#5_7a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rule 5.7a<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rule of the Week &#8211;
