“Recent rain events, though lighter than in previous weeks, have continued to delay many of our maintenance activities. One of our key priorities leading into the long weekend was mowing the rough on The Pines golf course. Unfortunately, the persistent wet conditions have made it unsafe to proceed without risking damage to the turf as we head into winter.<\/p>\r\n

This time of year is critical for our maintenance team as we work to ensure the courses remain as healthy and damage-free as possible, especially with the upcoming decline in turf growth and recovery.<\/p>\r\n

In addition to the mowing delays, we have also experienced setbacks in removing the remaining debris piles left by ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred. The ground has simply been too soft and saturated to safely bring in large equipment.<\/p>\r\n

We have now scheduled a full clean-up of both golf courses for early May. With a bit of luck and a break from the rain, we hope the courses will dry sufficiently to allow safe and efficient access for our crew.“<\/span><\/p>\r\n<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n<\/tbody>\r\n<\/table>\r\n

This week, the team completed the following on The Palms and The Pines golf courses:<\/p>\r\n

  • Top dressed The Palms golf course tees before over-sowing<\/li>\r\n\t
  • Over-sowed The Palms golf course tees with Poa trivialis<\/i><\/li>\r\n\t
  • Mowed The Palms golf course rough<\/li>\r\n\t
  • Commenced mowing The Pines golf course rough<\/li>\r\n\t
  • Chipped\/mulched storm damage debris piles on The Palms golf course<\/li>\r\n\t
  • Continued irrigation trim on The Palms golf course<\/li>\r\n\t
  • Commenced lake trim\/detail on The Pines golf course<\/li>\r\n\t
  • Applied fungicide\/insecticide on The Pines golf course and The Palms golf course greens<\/li>\r\n\t
  • Contractors commenced path edge drainage works on The Pines golf course.<\/li>\r\n\t
  • Work has commenced on The Palms golf course 3rd hole, including the removal of reusable irrigation sprinklers<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n

    Next week, the team plans to do the following on both golf courses:<\/p>\r\n

    • Foliar fertilise The Pines golf course fairways, aprons<\/li>\r\n\t
    • Continue mowing The Pines golf course rough<\/li>\r\n\t
    • Continue trimming The Pines golf course lake edges<\/li>\r\n\t
    • Continue irrigation trim on The Palms golf course<\/li>\r\n\t
    • Apply Poa<\/i> annua<\/em> control\/fungicide application on The Pines golf course and The Palms golf course greens<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n
