Dear Member

On behalf of the Board and all our wonderful staff, may I wish you and your families good health, happiness, and good golf for 2021.

I think it would be fair to say that we will all be glad to see the Covid-19 year of 2020 end and with vaccines just around the corner, hopefully allow us to return to some sort of normality. Can I also thank all of our Members for their continued adherence to our Covid-19 requirements, allowing our Club to continue to operate in a safe manner. Unfortunately, access for our Distance Members living overseas may still be some time away, however, we look forward to welcoming them back to the Club as soon as it is possible.

As we move into the New Year, I would like to provide a brief update of matters in progress and a summary of our membership as of the end of December 2020.

Matters in progress

  • Solar installation on the Golf Course Maintenance shed has been completed
  • Solar installation on the Clubhouse will start this month
  • The Palms toilets behind the 13th green are scheduled to start in the 3rd week of January
  • Refurbishment of the greens on The Pines golf course will start 4 January

Membership

We have seen a strong growth in membership throughout 2020 with a total of 87 new Equity Members joining our Club during the Covid-19 period. To all our new Members, welcome to our great Club.

As is also the case, we lose some of our previous membership through Voluntary Forfeiture and to all of those who have left us, thank you for having been a valuable Member of our Club.

As we move forward, your Board believes that 2021 will be a more difficult year financially for the Club as the Government JobKeeper stimulus package, which was a significant aid to the 2020 results, will not be available after the first quarter of the year. However, with the expectation of continued good membership growth in 2021, and with the hope of return to some normality, we will continue to work hard to manage the challenges that lie ahead.

In consideration of this, my major aims and objectives and that of the Board, will be to continue to plan for our future with the goal of returning our Club to an exclusive and private Member club with first class amenities and golf courses.

It is also my intention to provide a monthly Board Report within the last Member’s Weekly Newsletter each month giving a summary of matters covered in the Board meeting of that month as a means to communicate more regularly on such things as:

  • Introduction of new Members
  • Monthly finance summary
  • Monthly Match and Greens report
  • Updates on projects underway or being planned

This aim will be to keep Members as up to date as possible.

May I also take this opportunity, on behalf of your Board and all our membership and staff, to recognise the services of our retiring President, Mr. Mick McDonald. I am sure I speak on behalf of you all in thanking Mick for his dedicated 7 years of service to our great Club – 1 year as Vice-President and 6 years as President. Under Mick’s leadership and guidance, our Club has progressed from some very difficult financial times through his early years as President, to a Club with a strong balance sheet and significant, strong, and bright future.

Mick’s contribution to our Club cannot be emphasised strongly enough, and to Mick’s wife, Robbie, who has been a tower of strength to Mick throughout his tenure as President, we say thank you.

In finishing, I look forward to serving you – the membership of this great Club, to continuing on with the positive direction in which we are heading, and to leading a great Board to develop and enhance an already wonderful environment and asset.

Yours faithfully

Jeff Ervin
