On Sunday 20 June 2021, the finals of the Men’s and Ladies’ Handicap Championships were played on The Palms golf course. The results are as below:

Men’s A Grade           
Paul Smerdon v Trent Scrivener  

Trent Scrivener was off to a hot start and help a three-up lead after 8 holes. Trent continued his good play and was four up after 12-holes. Paul Smerdon rallied to have the match back to a 1 hole deficit with 3 holes to play. Trent Scrivener held his nerve down the 17^th hole to run out a 3 and 1 champion.             

Ladies’ A Grade          
Lisa Hanna v Audy White 

Audy White and Lisa Hanna played a good match on the front nine to see the game all square after 8 holes. Audy played some nice golf to lead three-up with 3 to play. Lisa Hanna wasn’t going away and forced the match to extra holes. The 19^th hole saw a halved hole, then the match was decided on the 20^th hole with Lisa Hanna being crowned the Ladies’ A Grade Champion.

Men’s B Grade
David Francis v Shane Oswin    

Good friends Shane Oswin and David Francis battled it out for the Men’s B Grade title of Men’s B Grade champion. David was off to a hot start winning the first 3 holes. David always maintained a gap on Shane and eventually ran out the winner to a score line of 3 and 2.            

Ladies’ B Grade          
Norma Hale v Wendy Nelson 

Wendy Nelson played some good golf early in the match against Norma Hale and held a three-up lead after 11 holes. Norma Hale reduced the deficit to two down until Wendy Nelson won holes 14 and 15 to be crowned the Ladies’ B Grade Champion.               

Men’s C Grade          
Alan Mercer v Peter Ramsay     

Alan Mercer and Peter Ramsay battled out the Men’s C Grade Championship final. Peter played some good golf to hold a three-up lead with 3 holes to play. Alan Mercer then won the next three holes to send the match to the 19^th hole. Peter Ramsay won the 19^th hole and was crowned the 2021 Men’s C Grade Handicap Champion.                       

Ladies’ C Grade         
Debra Scerri v Marion Coy         

Marion Coy and Debra Scerri played in the Ladies’ C Grade final. This match was close throughout the entire day, and it was always destined to go the distance. After 18 holes, the match was all square and went to a sudden death playoff. The Ladies halved the 19^th hole and Debra Scerri held her nerve to win the 20^th hole and be crowned Ladies’ C Grade Handicap Champion.
