With the year that has past and many events being cancelled due to COVID-19, this was the race that started the nation on Tuesday 2 November. Members and their guests filled the Clubhouse dressed in their finest spring racewear. The day began with welcome Pommery champagne served under the porte cochère, followed by a sumptuous seafood buffet and all the live action on the big screens in both The Jabiru Restaurant and Lakeview Bar. Both rooms were brought alive thanks to the magic created with stunning floral centrepieces provided by Club Member Mrs Susan McLean. A gracious thank you to Susan who provides beautiful florals each year and indeed year-round. Fashions on the field were once again a tough decision with Best Dressed Female being awarded to Margie Kilmartin and our Best Dressed Male going to Shane Burquest. Paul and Charmaine Ledgerwood took out the title of 2021 Best Dressed Couple. There were sweepstakes and the party continued well into the evening with live entertainment after the race from the iconic Gold Coast band, The Accidents.
