Ladies’ Monthly Medal 

The Match Committee has made changes to the Ladies’ Monthly Medal on both The Pines and The Palms golf courses.

Commencing in February on The Pines golf course, ladies will no longer be required to play in their stipulated grades. The tee sheets have been amended accordingly and bookings can be made online.

For ladies not wishing to play a stroke event, an optional Single Stableford event is being introduced for both courses’ Monthly Medal competitions. On The Pines golf course this competition will be played from the red tees, and on The Palms golf course it will be played from the white tees. 

Sunday – Optional Competitions

The Club has decided to introduce optional competitions on the Sundays where a Social Sunday event is not scheduled. 

These competitions will be a Medley Single Stableford. Below is the list of the first events scheduled:

  • Sunday 5 February – The Palms golf course 
  • Sunday 19 February – The Pines golf course 
  • Sunday 5 March – The Pines golf course 
  • Sunday 26 March – The Pines golf course

2023 Men’s Pennant – Division 1 – Expressions of Interest

The Club is looking for Members interested in representing the Club in GCDGA Division 1 pennant which begins on 19 February 2023 and runs until 2 April 2023.

Any golfers with a handicap of 3.4 or less, please register your interest by putting your name on the sign-up sheet on the golf shop noticeboard. Click here to view the draw.

Ladies’ 9-Hole Competition

Following the introduction and success of the Ladies’ 9-hole Competitions on Monday, these will continue in 2023 on the dates below:

  • Monday 6 February – The Palms golf course
  • Monday 13 February – The Palms golf course
  • Monday 20 February – The Palms golf course
  • Monday 27 February – The Pines golf course
  • Monday 6 March – The Pines golf course
  • Monday 13 March – no competition due to an event

There will be a mixture of single stableford, 4BBB stableford and 2-ball ambrose events with the competition fee being $10.

Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club Eclectic and Shootout

The Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club Eclectic began on 1 January 2023 and runs until 30 November 2023.

For 2023, the Club has added The Palms Eclectic competition in addition to The Pines Eclectic competition. To partake in these events, a $20 joining fee for men and $30 joining fee for ladies applies. The ladies’ fee includes entry in Women’s Golf Gold Coast and District Events. When players register for one Eclectic competition, they will automatically be entered into both.

The 2023 Sanctuary Cove Shootout qualifying for men commences on Wednesday 4 January 2023 and closes on Wednesday 8 November 2023. The ladies’ qualifying commences on Thursday 5 January 2023 and closes on Thursday 9 November 2023. The best three stableford scores throughout this period in all single stableford competition rounds on The Pines golf course will count towards players’ totals, with the top 19 players in each field vying to be the Shootout Champion. Men’s scores are taken from competitions off the blue tees, and ladies’ scores are eligible from competitions played off the red tees. The Shootout Final will be held on Sunday 3 December 2023.

Ladies’ Clinics – Welcome to Golf with Michael Jones

Learn how to play golf at Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club with PGA Professional Michael Jones.

Clinics will be held on the following dates:

  • Wednesday 8 February 2023
  • Wednesday 15 February 2023
  • Wednesday 22 February 2023
  • Wednesday 1 March 2023

Time: 10am-11am
Price: $140 for all four clinics
Bookings: Bookings can be made via the online tee sheets.

Note that there will be a maximum of eight ladies per clinic.

Clinic Overview

Week One
Basics to start golf – grip, weight setup, swing-balance-finish.

Week Two
Short game – introduction to chipping, bunkers and recovery shots.

Week Three
A brief outline of rules and golf etiquette plus Putting and learning how to read greens and control speed.

Week Four
Playing golf on the practice holes and applying the concepts that were taught in week one and week two.

This will not be a pressured environment, it is simply to give students an idea of golf basics plus course sense and safety.

If you don’t have golf clubs, this is not a problem as we can supply them for you.

Pennant Hills Golf Club – Affiliate Agreement

We are excited to announce that as of 1 February 2023, we have a new affiliate agreement with Pennant Hills Golf Club, located in the suburbs of Sydney, New South Wales.

Pennant Hills Golf Club is a leading private golf club in the hills district of Beecroft in Sydney.

Each Member is allowed a maximum of six games per year and can bring up to three guests per game. Member guest fees apply to all Members and guests.

Peninsula Kingswood Country Golf Club – Reciprocal Agreement

We are excited to announce that as of 1 January 2023, we have upgraded from an affiliate to a reciprocal agreement with Peninsula Kingswood Country Golf Club, which is located on the world famous Melbourne sandbelt.

Peninsula Kingswood is one of the premier golf facilities in Australia with world-class golf courses, practice facilities, accommodation and dining.

Each Member is allowed a maximum of 6 games per year and we are capped at 250 rounds a year for our Members at Peninsula Kingswood.

Peninsula Kingswood Country Golf Club has two world class golf courses:

  • North Course (#5 in Australian Golf Digest rankings)
  • South Course (#16 in Australian Golf Digest rankings)
