Sanctuary Cove Body Corporate Services Works

Sanctuary Cove Body Corporate Services will be undertaking work, of which some is on our land, for the A-Class water pipe.

The contractor will under bore the road on St Andrews Terrace and The Parkway and trench the remaining section in preparation for the mainline installation. At this stage, they will be ready to commence works in this area on 20 March and the section is expected to take 1-2 weeks. Under bore machinery will be located on the corner of St Andrews Terrace, however approximately 50m of pipework will then be welded and pulled back through from the pathway side.

For Golf Club access, the area will be suitably barricaded with traffic management in place to ensure little to no disruption to pathway users.

We kindly ask Members and your guests to please drive with caution through this area.

Members are reminded that parking is not permitted under the porte-cochère at the Clubhouse main entrance unless in an allocated parking space.

Golf buggy parking is available in front of the golf shop and in the designated Clubhouse entrance cart park.

Your cooperation and understanding of these guidelines are appreciated, so as to not jeopardise the Club’s ability to accommodate emergencies such as fire and ambulance arrivals.

We thank you for your support on this matter.

Members’ Working Group

The Members’ Working Group is a group of Members who volunteer their time to assist the Golf Course Maintenance team with various tasks on and around the golf courses.

The group meets fortnightly on Tuesdays, and we invite any Members interested in helping to contact Gary Simmons.

The Palms Fairway Topdressing

The topdressing of The Palms fairways will be completed on Tuesday 28 and Wednesday 29 March 2023. This was unable to be completed during the course renovation period due to supply shortages of sand.

Topdressing is the application of a sand-based topdressing mix to the playing surface, the benefits of which are listed below:

  • The filling of aerification holes with sand keeps these channels open for air, water and amendments, allowing them to penetrate to the root zone
  • The removal of thatch by core aerification, coupled with the topdressing sand application, is a combination that creates a tighter, firmer, and more even playing surface
    • Thatch is the result of applying turf which produces organic matter in the upper rootzone (thatch)
    • This creates a soft, undesirable playing surface
  • Rubbing in of topdressing sand fills in any uneven surfaces and levels out these areas

During the topdressing period, Members and guests will experience minimal impact on the golf course.

Congratulations to the SCGCC Employees of the Quarter – Ashleigh Blacksell, Andrew Lothian and Nick Harris

Ashleigh Blacksell
Ashleigh is responsible for retail in the golf shop and has led the team to enormous retail results, surpassing budget by a significant amount since December of last year.

December – $163,523 in sales against a budget of $84,800 (this was a record month and was done with limited staff due to staff annual leave).

February – saw the budget surpassed by over $45,000.

While Ryan Gailey was away on annual leave during February, Ashleigh stepped up and went above and beyond for Members and helped run the operation. Ashleigh took all challenges in her stride and we would like to congratulate Ashleigh on all of her efforts.

Andrew Lothian and Nick Harris
Andrew Lothian and Nick Harris were both selected for their continued dedication and hard work, especially during the recent The Palms renovations. They both worked well over the required hours in extreme conditions to make sure the job was adequately completed.

Congratulations to Ashleigh, Andrew and Nick.
