After a rainy day on Tuesday, Members may have noticed black spots appearing on The Pines greens (see image). This is a disease called “Black Helminthosporium”, or “Black Helmo” as its commonly known. It is a turfgrass disease that affects warm-season turf such as TifEagle, and if left unmanaged can lead to severe damage and impact the playability of the greens. To counter this outbreak, the Golf Course Maintenance team has applied the appropriate registered fungicide to holt the disease’s progress and minimise its impact.
Next week the team plans to:
- Aerate of The Pines greens with 6mm solid tines
- Foliar fertilise The Palms tees, fairways and green aprons
- Complete the herb garden
- Complete the installation of hole signage posts on The Pines
- Complete sprinkler head trimming on The Palms
