The Sanctuary Cove Canasta group was formed around 1995 to provide a social venue for women at Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club (Club). The group is eclectic in its playing members, including golfers, bridge players, as well as novices at cards.
Canasta is a card game in the Rummy family. The version played at the Club is Samba Canasta, which can be played by 2, 3 or 4 players. Whilst there is friendly rivalry, it is casual game with plenty of opportunity for talking and laughter.
The Canasta group is pleased to welcome new arrivals in its group and teach (and encourage) where required. It is another great way to meet new friends in an easy-going atmosphere.
The group meets at the Clubhouse on Fridays from 10am to anytime* with a stop for lunch and chatter.
*We need to finish the game around 3:30pm as per Club requirements.
An annual Christmas Luncheon is held on the first Friday of December each year, on which day the best players are awarded with a trophy.
