Coaching Tip with Steve Darmody – Wide Stance Fault

Here is a simple way to get a more appropriate width of stance for your iron shots.

A wide stance gives you stability but takes away your mobility.

  1. Allow the arms to hang from the shoulders, then point straight down with the fingers
  2. The fingers should be pointing towards the middle of your foot
  3. The photo on the left is too wide, the fingers point inside the feet
  4. The photo on the right is a neutral width of stance

This will help your ability to turn and can increase your clubhead speed.
