Message from Golf Course Superintendent Cameron Smith
“What an incredible nine days it has been. We started with The Palms golf course in arguably the best condition it has been in for a long time, all set for the Australian WPGA Championship. Now, we are in the process of recovering from a major weather event. Water levels reached unprecedented heights, and we have seen numerous large trees down and debris scattered across both golf courses.
Our maintenance team, with support from the Golf Services team, has gone above and beyond, executing each task to an exceptionally high standard. Thanks to their hard work, we are ahead of schedule and on track to have the courses ready sooner than expected.
We are still in the midst of the clean-up, with tree contractors already on-site clearing the large trees that fell across The Palms golf course. They will return as soon as possible to finish the clean-up on The Pines golf course. While there was no major damage to the course, there is still significant tree work to be done in non-playing areas.
We are committed to restoring both courses to their pre-cyclone condition as quickly as possible. Please bear with us as we continue the clean-up, which may take a few more weeks.”
