Message from Golf Course Superintendent Cameron Smith

“The maintenance team has put in an incredible amount of work to get both courses open again after the damage caused by ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred. While there are still some piles of debris around, both The Pines and The Palms golf courses have held up remarkably well considering the extent of the damage. Due to the heavy rainfall, we’ve seen a flush of weed growth across both courses, with Mullumbimby Couch being the most prominent. We’ve already implemented control measures on The Pines golf course and will be addressing The Palms golf course in the coming weeks. A huge thank you to all the volunteers who generously gave their time to help the maintenance team clear the smaller debris from the playing surfaces on The Pines course. Your efforts have been invaluable, and we truly appreciate everyone’s hard work.

Update on the Golf Courses

Following the impacts of ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred, the course maintenance team, supported by Clubhouse staff, volunteers, and contractors, has worked hard to restore both courses, which have now reopened.

The Golf Course Maintenance team completed the following this week on The Palms and The Pines golf courses:

  • Fungicide application applied to the greens on both golf courses

  • A light dusting application to The Pines golf course greens

  • Foliar fertiliser and growth control was applied to The Pines golf course tees, greens aprons, and fairways

  • Detailed trim and repair of washouts in The Pines golf course bunkers caused by ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred

  • The Pines golf course rough has been mown

  • Tree contractors, Tree Safe, have cut up and stacked fallen trees, and removed unsafe trees and branches

  • Hazard lines have been completed on both courses

  • There has been continued debris clean-up on The Palms golf course

  • New irrigation mainline installed on The Palms golf course hole 3
