The 2025 Sanctuary Cove Easter Tournament teed off on Good Friday with the Walker Cup, played on The Pines golf course. A beautiful autumn day welcomed 135 participants, each aiming to etch their name onto the Walker Cup winner’s trophy.
Players competed in the 4-Person Ambrose, first played in 1990 and initiated by Mr Keith Walker and his friends. Unfortunately, Keith couldn’t make it to the event this year, but he certainly had his pick of the favourites. We are also excited to celebrate Keith’s 100th birthday in August later this year.
The event has grown steadily over the years, and it was wonderful to see its continued rise in popularity. It was a day enjoyed by members, particularly this year’s winners, who returned a fine score of 54.375 nett. Congratulations to the team of Glen Thomson, Troy Devine, Fletcher and Hayley Sewell.
Easter Monday saw a record field of 96 members and guests take part in the Jabiru Cup on The Pines golf course. Another glorious autumn day greeted our golfers, making for a perfect conclusion to the 2025 Sanctuary Cove Easter Tournament.
In the men’s individual Stableford, Taylor Barr posted a bogey-free 5-under 65 (38 points) but was narrowly beaten on a count back by Gary Simmons, who claimed the title. In the ladies’ event, Madeleine Schwartz also posted 38 points to take top honours. The Jabiru Cup follows a random team draw format, with the best three scores from each group counted. This year’s champions – Gary Simmons, Bruce Munro, Kim Galpin, and Blake Scott – won with a combined score of 103 points.
