Greg Herring awarded Club’s first Life Membership

On Sunday 20 April 2025, Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club proudly awarded its first-ever Life Membership to long-standing member Dr Maurice (Greg) Herring, marking a historic and heartfelt moment in the Club’s history.

Life Membership is the highest honour the Club can bestow, reserved for individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment, contribution, and service over an extended period. On behalf of the board, the Club received a formal nomination for Greg Herring, submitted by Mr Chris Indermaur and Mr Shannon Moore, acknowledging Greg’s extensive and selfless service to the Club community.

Since becoming a member in 2003, Greg has held numerous formal positions, including:

• Member of the Members’ Advisory Committee (2006)
• Club Vice-President (2007–2008)
• Club President (2009–2010)
• Social Committee Chair (2013–2014)
• Disciplinary Committee Chair (2014–present)
• Membership Committee Member (2019–present)
• Club Archivist (2020–present)
• Archiving Committee Chair (2025)

Beyond committee service, Greg has played a vital role in Club life through his active and voluntary involvement in many areas:

• Coordinating the Club’s popular Sunday Social Golf schedule
• Refereeing the Men’s Shootout for the past 13 years
• Officiating Honour Board events as referee
• Assisting management with By-Law and Constitution reviews

Greg’s service has been marked by professionalism, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to the Club’s values and success. His contributions have left an enduring impact on both the governance and social fabric of the Club.
