Caring for our Courses: A seasonal Reminder
As winter approaches, we enter a season of change – shorter days, cooler air, reduced humidity, and the gradual slowing of growth across our golf courses. These seasonal shifts, along with the recent wet weather, mean our tee boxes, fairways, and greens take longer to recover, making mindful course care more important than ever.
To help preserve the condition and beauty of our golf courses during this time, we kindly remind you of a few essential practices.
General Course Care
- Cut and fill divots – please repair your own divots, as well as any others you notice
- Repair ball (pitch) marks on greens – take a moment to fix yours, and assist by repairing any nearby marks
- Rake bunkers – leave the bunker as you found it by raking evenly and placing the rake back on the flat area within the bunker
Golf Cart Use
Golf carts, while convenient, can contribute significantly to wear and tear on the course if not used responsibly. By following all cart signage and rules, and by remaining on designated paths wherever possible, we can collectively reduce damage and preserve course integrity.
- A maximum of two carts is permitted per fourball
- Keep all four wheels on designated paths to prevent damage to path and grass edges
- At tee boxes, carts must remain on the paths – they should never be driven onto teeing areas or their surrounds
- Once past the designated cart signs, carts must not enter the fairway or rough – please exit to the path in the direction indicated
- On The Pines golf course 5th hole, carts must exit to the left of the fairway and follow the cart path around to the back of the green – carts are not permitted on the right-hand side of the green
- On The Pines golf course 8th hole, carts must exit to the right-hand side only – the left-hand side is off-limits
- Do not drive carts in the rough near water edges – this wears down the grass and increases the risk of balls rolling into the water
- Members with medical certificates must keep carts at least 10 metres from any green and must adhere to designated cart signage
Walking Carts
- Push, pull, and electric carts are not permitted on putting surfaces
