Rain seems to be a recurring theme each week with the persistent weather conditions we’re experiencing. While closing the golf courses is never an easy decision, it is ultimately made in the interest of member safety and to protect the playing surfaces. Unfortunately, we don’t anticipate much relief in the coming week, but our team is working hard to bring both courses back to the high standard we expect.
Ongoing works on holes 3 and 10 of The Palms golf course have also been impacted by the weather, presenting challenges for the contractors. We thank members for their feedback regarding the temporary path on hole 10. As noted in our previous reports, the temporary cart path was installed to allow continued access during construction, however, with the combination of wet conditions and heavy machinery, potholes have started to form. Once the weather improves, contractors will regularly top up and smooth out this path to maintain accessibility.
Tree removals at the back of the green have also been carried out in line with our Course Enhancement Plan. This plan also includes the transplanting of a significant number of palm trees from the fairway to the back of the green. The removal of non-preferred species is a key step in making way for more suitable vegetation that aligns with the overall landscape vision for the course.
We thank members again for their patience while we do our best to work with these ongoing weather conditions.
