Message from our Golf Course Superintendent

Cameron Smith, Golf Course Superintendent

This week has brought a varied mix of weather, with a significant 131mm of rainfall recorded between 22 and 26 April. Despite the challenging conditions, the maintenance crew has been working diligently to restore The Pines golf course bunkers to a high standard following the rain event. In contrast, The Palms golf course bunkers have continued to perform well, thanks to last year’s successful upgrade.

The return of fine weather earlier in the week provided an opportunity for the team to regain control of mowing operations in The Pines golf course rough. On The Palms golf course, the 10th hole is now closed, with P2 in play as its temporary replacement. With both the 3rd and 10th holes now out of play, contracting work is progressing rapidly as preparations for the upcoming course upgrades are well underway. The Palms golf course tees have also received their first mow at 8mm following recent over sowing with Poa trivialis.

Fingers crossed for continued fine weather to support the team’s efforts in the coming days.
