Message from our Golf Course Superintendent

Cameron Smith, Golf Course Superintendent

Following another wet weekend, the team made the most of the scheduled course closure to complete several key tasks on The Pines golf course. Cart path detailing and spot spraying of foreign grasses on the greens and collars were successfully undertaken, while our dedicated volunteers completed divot repairs across the entire front nine.

Over on The Palms golf course, significant progress was made on the new hole 3, with all turfing now completed and only the landscape planting remaining. The green extension is nearing completion, and the tee received its first mow this week, marking another milestone. All signs remain positive for an early September opening.

This week, the maintenance team completed the following:

  • Needle tined the 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 15th greens on The Pines golf course
  • Applied herbicide to rough areas on The Palms golf course
  • Edged and detailed cart paths on The Pines golf course
  • Commenced irrigation trimming on The Palms golf course
  • Applied spot-spray herbicide to greens on The Pines golf course
  • Continued turfing the 3rd green extension on The Palms golf course
  • Checked and moved bunker sand depths on The Pines golf course
  • Contractors laid new turf on the 3rd fairway of The Palms golf course
  • Continued Ventrac mulching on The Pines forest floors

Next week, the following will be addressed:

  • Herbicide will be applied to The Palms golf course fairways and remaining rough areas
  • Turfing will continue on the 3rd green extension of The Palms golf course
  • Irrigation trimming will be carried out on both The Pines and The Palms golf courses
