Enhancement Works: The Palms golf course Hole 17

To minimise disruption to members at this time, and in 2026 when the hole will be completed following the Australian WPGA Championships, works are taking place during the course closure renovation period from Monday 27 October to Monday 17 November 2025. This allows partial construction of the hole to be completed while the course is not being used for play by members.

Construction is expected to take approximately four to five weeks with favourable weather, and with suitable growing conditions, hole 16 is anticipated to reopen early in the new year. Hole 17 will remain open throughout, as the new tee being constructed will not be in play until the enhancement works are completed. To ensure hole 16 can reopen as quickly as possible, hole 20 will be brought into play when the course reopens following renovations.

The primary objective of this stage is to extend hole 17 into a par 5, maintaining the course’s overall par 70 with the change to hole 10 to a par 4.

Key works include:

  • the construction of a sandstone retaining wall to contain the existing 16th tees and the new 17th black tee, creating a striking visual feature and ensuring long-term structural stability
  • a new blue tee complex being constructed approximately 30 metres behind the current tees, increasing versatility and shot options
  • several palm trees being strategically transplanted, fauna removed on certain parts of the hole, and;
  • a new cart path being constructed to connect the tee complex to the existing network, improving access and circulation.

These works form part of the Club’s broader enhancement plan, developed in partnership with Crafter and Mogford Golf Strategies, continuing the Club’s commitment to world-class playing surfaces, thoughtful course design, and an exceptional member and guest experience.

We thank members for their continued patience and support as we progress with further enhancements to The Palms golf course.
