Message from our Golf Course Superintendent

Cameron Smith, Golf Course Superintendent

We are pleased to report that we have water on site once again. After a lengthy delay, The Palms golf course is fully filled, with The Pines golf course currently sitting at 75 per cent capacity. All lakes are expected to be topped up within the next week. Heavy irrigation has commenced across both courses to restore the soil profile, and after only a few nights on The Pines golf course, conditions are already showing improvement with targeted irrigation now underway.

Bunker works on The Pines golf course are progressing steadily, with approximately one-third of the course completed. On The Palms golf course, turfing has commenced on the 10th hole, beginning around the bunkers before moving progressively down the fairway towards the tees. This marks an exciting stage as the hole continues to take shape.

This week, the maintenance team completed the following:

  • Double cut The Pines golf course greens with grooming reels engaged
  • Applied a light top dressing (dust) to The Pines golf course greens

  • Removed tree debris piles on The Pines golf course (contractors)

  • Stump ground tree stumps on The Palms golf course 14th and 15th holes

  • Applied fungicide to the greens on both golf courses and watered in

  • Applied foliar fertiliser to The Pines golf course fairways, tees, and aprons

  • Edged and detailed The Pines golf course cart paths

  • Continued bunker sand depth checks and movement on The Pines golf course

  • Continued trimming and detailing The Pines Clubhouse gardens

  • Mulched The Pines forest floors using the Ventrac

  • Spot sprayed selective herbicide on The Palms golf course greens to remove unwanted grass weeds

  • Installed fairway bunkers and commenced turf laying on The Palms golf course new 10th hole

Next week, the following will be addressed:

  • Granular fertiliser will be applied to The Pines golf course fairways
  • An insecticide and wetting agent application will be carried out on The Palms golf course fairways, tees, and aprons

  • Trimming and detailing of The Pines Clubhouse gardens will continue

  • Trimming of valve lids on The Pines golf course will continue

  • Bunker sand depth checks and movement on The Pines golf course will continue

  • Mulch will be spread throughout The Pines gardens
