Message from our Golf Course Superintendent

Cameron Smith, Golf Course Superintendent

This week, on The Palms golf course, the team received more rainfall than expected, with over 100mm recorded throughout the week. Despite this, renovation progress remains steady and on track. Greens were dethatched, mowed at 2mm, aerated, and treated with amendments to aid recovery. Tees were dethatched and cleaned, while fairways underwent deep slicer aeration and dethatching. Contractors continued tree removal on holes 16 and 17 and began constructing the rock wall along the lake edge for the new 17th tee and adjoining 16th hole.

On The Pines golf course, foliar fertiliser was applied to tees, green aprons, and fairways, with bunker detailing and fungicide and insecticide treatments completed on greens. Renovation works commenced on the large practice green and hole 21 green, alongside the application of amendments to the new tee on the 10th hole of The Palms golf course.

Next week, foliar fungicide will be applied to greens and general preparation will continue on The Pines golf course. On The Palms golf course, works will include verticutting and topdressing greens, mowing and topdressing tees at 6mm, and continued aeration, dethatching, and clean-up of fairways. Contractors will also progress rock wall construction, install Hydrowick drainage, complete path repairs, and lay new turf on the 10th tees.
