Enhancement works – The Palms golf course holes 3 and 10
We are pleased to share an update on forthcoming works on holes 3 and 10 of The Palms golf course, further to previous communications regarding the Course Enhancement Plan. The plan, developed in collaboration with Crafter + Mogford Golf Strategies, outlines key modifications designed to enhance playability, aesthetics, and course maintenance.
An outline of planned changes is detailed below, and the Crafter + Mogford hole design of each hole may be viewed on our website through the links provided. Please note, a Member Engagement Session will be scheduled in the coming weeks hosted by Golf Course Superintendent Cameron Smith, to invite discussion on the works ahead.
Updates to Hole 3
Hole 3 will be closed from Monday 14 April to approximately mid-August (date TBA). Key updates to this hole include:
- New Tee Construction: A new tee will be constructed and existing tees will be removed.
- Cart Path Adjustments: Sections of the existing cart path will be removed, realigned, and repaired where necessary to optimise movement around the hole. Members will use the new path already completed along the boundary fence to make their way to hole 4.
- Lake Edge and Landscaping: Sandstone block retaining walls will be constructed along the lake edge in the same style as recently completed on holes 5, 8 and 10 of The Palms golf course. Landscape planting will be introduced along the sandstone walls as well as the immediate tee carry to enhance the natural aesthetics and environmental sustainability of the hole.
- Boundary and Visual Screening: Palm planting along the boundary will filter views to future development.
During the hole 3 closure, please note the following course will be played:
- Hole 19 in play as a par 4 during the period above
- The course will be played as a par 71
- All competition rounds will be eligible for the Shootout
- One tee starts – hole 19 to be played at the end of the round (after hole 18)
- Two tee starts – play will begin on hole 19 and hole 11

Updates to Hole 10
Hole 10 will be closed from 28 April, at which time civil contractors will begin works. We aim to reopen the hole early in the new year. Key updates to this hole include:
- Newly constructed tees
- Remodelling of existing bunkers
- Improved cart path connectivity
- Adjustments to the fairway to enhance visibility from the tee
- Lakes: New lakes will be installed to complement the new tees and the first half of the fairway. These lakes will be constructed using the same proven random block stone as the previously completed works.
- Transplanting of palms: With the addition of the new lakes, there is an opportunity to transplant established palm trees from these areas to the space behind the 10th green and 11th tees. Pre-work will be carried out in this area, including the removal of unwanted species, to ensure the transplanted palms become the focal point.
- Irrigation: While the work on holes 3 and 10 is underway, we have also taken the opportunity to commence the irrigation upgrade on The Palms golf course. This upgrade will enable us to manage the irrigation of both courses from a single central computer.
Please note: During the closure of these holes at the end of April, work will begin on the construction of a temporary cart path that will allow access from holes 9 to 11 for our members and guests. The path will be constructed along the eastern end of the hole which will keep all access safe during the development stage.
