What days and hours will each course be closed for practice and the tournament?

The Palms golf course will be closed from 12:01pm on Sunday of Championship week until 11:59pm on the last day of the Championship Week. For 2025, those dates will be Sunday 2 March – Sunday 9 March inclusive.

As a golf club member, what do you anticipate the cost of the course updates to be for the tournament?

As part of the event, Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club will receive a fee from Mulpha to support course preparations.

What are the options for player billeting?

Billeting involves local residents providing players with a room for the tournament week. Additional provisions of meals, transportation and internet access can be provided at the discretion of the host resident. Billeting allows players to enjoy the comforts of home whilst preparing for tournament week and helps the players financially. On what platforms will the tournament be broadcast?

The Australian WPGA Championship will comprise of a two-day broadcast (Saturday and Sunday) on Free to Air, Fox, and Kayo platforms. There will be an announcement shortly on the overall broadcast.

What are the car parking options for visitors, considering the current car park being taken up by the Pavilion?

Whilst the Pavilion will reduce parking at the village, the tournament and Gold Coast Festival of Golf will utilise the overflow parking at Cypress Point. Mulpha and the PGA are also exploring additional park and ride options as required.

How will attendees get from shuttle bus/Village to the course for the tournament?

Shuttle buses will run from Cypress Point to the Village bus stop. Entry to the Gold Coast Festival of Golf will be to the left of the Village bus stop and tournament entry will be to the right of the Village bus stop.

What is the plan around kangaroo and wildlife management?

The PGA, Mulpha and Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club are currently working with Biodiversity Australia to develop a comprehensive wildlife management plan to ensure the safety of players, spectators, residents and animals. Additional signage to alert patrons of wildlife will be a ley piece of this plan, as well as the guidance provided by Biodiversity Australia.

What security will be in place for homes behind the gates, also to prevent visitors accessing lawns and yards?

Tournament security will involve a combination of hard security, soft security, and volunteers, along with strategic roping plans to ensure proper protection for homes behind the gates. Hard security will include professional personnel stationed at key access points to control entry and ensure safety. Soft security, such as roving security teams, will be in place to monitor the event and handle any issues as they arise. Volunteers will also assist in guiding attendees and supporting security measures. Roping plans will help define boundaries and restrict visitors from accessing private lawns and yards. This layered approach will help maintain a secure environment throughout the tournament.

Working with Children Check (Blue Card) Information:

As part of Australian Golf’s commitment to providing safe events, all volunteers are required to obtain a valid Working With Children Check (Blue Card) to participate in our volunteer program.

You are able to express your interest to volunteer without obtaining a Blue Card. If you do not have a Blue Card, you will be prompted on registration to apply. Once you have applied, the PGA will be required to link you to our event; once linked, Blue Card Services will then process your application.

Please find below information to assist you in finalising the required details. Queensland volunteers will need to be linked to the PGA of Australia via one of two methods below: 

  • Volunteers with an existing and valid Blue Card:
  • Volunteers who are applying for a new Blue Card or renewing their expired Blue Card:
  • The PGA will link you to our event, and Blue Card Services will then process your application
  • When your Blue Card is confirmed, please update your Rosterfy profile by going to the tab “Working with Children Check”
