The Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club Senior Pennant Team faced Hope Island in the semi-final of the Gold Coast District Golf Association Senior Pennant Competition. This followed a successful season in which the team finished top of its league, with strong wins over Lakelands and Southport, and a draw with Coolangatta/Tweed Heads.
The semi-final was played at Burleigh Heads Golf Club on Monday 4 August against a strong Hope Island side. Despite the sideline support of Paul Sanders and Tim Bray from Sanctuary Cove, the team was narrowly defeated on the second play-off hole after the six individual matches ended in a draw. The boys were unlucky to be pipped at the post and miss out on a place in the final.
The team was captained by Paul Blake, and the players were: Warwick Carter, Tony Cowley, Bevan Geissmann, Paul Kernaghan, Ty Kostevski, Buddy Nagi, John Scerri, and Adam Stuart.
A big thank you to all members of the squad for representing the Club. Your support and team spirit were outstanding and set a great example for the other teams.
